In Argonautica 1 the Argonauts are hosted by Cyzicus, young king of the Doliones. They leave, are blown back in the dark, and kill him by mistake. His bride Cleite hangs herself; the people bury him. It is a tragic layover in the Propontis, not a monster fight. The city of Cyzicus was real. Apollonius is the narrative source. There is no major independent Cyzicus epic. The stop costs an ally to weather and misrecognition.
