Flower-Fruit Mountain in the Eastern Sea is where a stone egg hatches Sun Wukong. He claims the Water Curtain Cave, titles himself Handsome Monkey King, and only later storms heaven. Journey to the West chapters 1–2 are the charter. Older monkey lore exists; this mountain and cave are the novel's. No cult calendar for the peak is required by the text. It is a nursery for chaos before the pilgrimage puts a band on the monkey.
