Belt that doubles Thor's might

Gylfaginning names Thor's three possessions: Mjöllnir, the iron gloves Járngreipr, and the belt Megingjörð, which doubles his strength. The Utgarda-Loki journey assumes he can be lessened without full gear. Snorri does not give a dwarf-wager origin for the belt as he does for the hammer; he simply lists it. Hymiskviða and related poems need Thor strong enough for the world's tasks. There is no separate cult of the girdle. It is a strength-modifier in the same inventory as the hammer.
