The Neolithic passage tomb at Newgrange is, in medieval Irish, Brug na Boinne, house of the Dagda and then of Oengus (Mac Oc), who tricks his father out of the Brug in Tochmarc Etaine and related dindshenchas. The winter-solstice light-box is archaeology; the Tuatha De stories are a thousand years and more later. Do not pretend the builders left the Dagda's name. The literature reuses a spectacular mound as a sidhe.
“Oengus asked the Brug of his father the Dagda for a day and a night, and so held it forever, for all time is day and night.”
