About Vanaheim

Vanir home, thinly described

Vanaheim is named as the Vanir's land. The Aesir-Vanir war ends in hostages: Njord, Frey, and Freyja come to Asgard; Hoenir and Mimir go the other way. Snorri locates Njord in Vanaheim at the beginning. The poems do not give a city, a river, or a temple plan. Fertility and seid attach to the Vanir as persons, not to a described landscape. Admit the gap: Vanaheim is a label more than a tour.
