Amun's house at Thebes
Karnak (Ipet-Sut) is the great temple precinct of Amun-Ra at Theban Thebes, grown across the New Kingdom. The Great Hymn to Amun and festival reliefs of Opet show the god's barque moving between Karnak and Luxor. It is a working cult machine, not a narrative underworld. No epic parks a hero here. The theology is solar and hidden-name: Amun, the unseen, housed in a stone estate with pylons, hypostyle, and sacred lake.
