The western king
Osiris sits as king of the dead, often at Abydos in cult and in the Hall of Judgment in books of the afterlife. Pyramid Texts already identify the dead king with Osiris. Later the throne is the end of the justified path: green skin, crook and flail, Isis beside him. There is no rival "palace tour" text. The throne is an office. Abydos supplies the earthly house; the Duat supplies the courtroom.
